Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
The Peter's Pence Collection allows the Holy Father to support victims of disaster, war and oppression--people in most need of emergency assistance. the Pope, being pastor of the whole churh , is attentive to the material needs of poor dioceses, religious institutes and the faithful in grave difficulties. Through loving charity, the Holy Father casts Christ's love upon the world. In his latest encyclical, Pope Benedict XVI reminds the faithful that "God's love...give us the courage to continue seeking and working for the benefit of all" (Caritas en Veritate, no. 78). The Peter's Pence Collection, taken August 7 and 8, gives the US parishioners a chance to unite in solidarity with the Holy Father, the faithful worldwide, and those most in need of charitable love. The Holy See uses the collection proceeds to proved emergency assistance and aid to the most disadvantaged around the world. WE DID IT! We met the CSA Goal of $25,216. We now have $28,923 with 112 pledges. We have received $21,193 in payments. We need $4023 more in payments then we will start to receive our rebate.
