Monthly Update – December 2006
Peace on earth will come to stay,
When we live
Christmas every day.

Operation Stocking Stuffer: We’re expecting 400 pre-filled Christmas stockings from St. Albert’s Parish, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, AT&T, and local individuals. Stockings will be distributed to families pre-registered by the Emergency Assistance Program on December 20.
Kids to Seniors Korner will station their Take-Care-A-Van at the St. Vincent’s Center parking lot during the event to dispense immunizations and provide medical and social service assessments and referrals. For details, please call Sandy Isham at 322-7073, ext. 224.
Thanksgiving Update: Our second Thanksgiving Dinner in the new St. Vincent’s Dining Room was another great success; more than 700 people were served a delicious turkey dinner prepared and delivered by John Ascuaga’s Nugget. Local DJ J.J. Christy of K-BULL Radio served again as maitre d’ and was joined by hundreds of beaming volunteers in a festive atmosphere, with flower bedecked tables, and holiday music. Of course, Christmas Dinner will be just as special, with food again provided by John Ascuaga’s Nugget and gifts distributed to any children attending the Dining Room that day.
Remember, St. Vincent’s Dining Room is open 365 days a year, serving a hot meal Monday-Saturday, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and a continental breakfast on Sundays at 8:30 a.m.
Turkey Giveaway: Thanks to a food drive by Boy Scout Troop #7322 and St. Albert’s Parish, as well as donations from AT&T, Atlantis, Grand Sierra Resort, RR Donnelley, and local individuals, St. Vincent’s Food Pantry distributed more than 250 turkeys and hams with all the trimmings the day before Thanksgiving.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the parishes in northern Nevada. Your support is critical to the success of the St. Vincent’s Programs. Together, we will continue a
65 year tradition of caring for the most vulnerable members of our community.
Merry Christmas and best wishes for peace and joy in the New Year.
