PASTORAL PLANS--LOS PLANES PASTORALES
In the fall of 2011, Fr. Bob with the Pastoral Council began a process of planning for the future pastoral needs of the parish. The idea is to determine what we do well already, and see what improvements we can make on this. The plan will also look at some needs and programs that can be offered. One such idea is to form a Men's Spirituality group, in which the adult men of the parish can come together to pray and share the faith. Other dreams include to form a Mom's group for those mothers who stay at home to care for and teach their children, build up the Youth Ministry and the Music Ministry, and to serve the greater community of Fernley.
In April of 2011, we moved into our new building. We now have a much larger worship Area, effcient and spacious office area, and a class rooms for religious, RCIA, and meetings. This is wonderful. However, this is not the end.
The final construction is the building of the Church "proper", paving of the lower parking lot, and additional landscaping. The Church itself will be eventually built on the east side of the building. This Church will have pews with kneelers, a baptismal fount, and other furnishings we normally associate with a Church. The current worship area will then become the social hall.
Before we can begin to plan the Church, we need to pay off the debt to the diocese, then raise the funds necessary to build the new church. This is therefore a long term plan, unless something wonderfully dramatic happens in the short term. We need everyone to do their parts, to honor pledges on the current capital campaign and to make donations to the construction funds.
The current Capital Campaign ends in fall of 2012. We will need start a new capital campaign. You can also help by making a pledge and honoring that pledge.
