Chrism Mass

Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Saint Rose of Lima @ 5:30 pm

Bishop Daniel Mueggenborg will celebrate the annual Christm Mass.  The Chrism Mass centers around the blessing of the three Holy Oils that will be used in Baptism, Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick and Holy Orders (Ordination) for the following year.  After the blessing of the Holy Oils, they will be distributed to each Catholic Parish in the Diocese.  Additionally at this Mass the Priests of the Diocese - in the presence of the Bishop - renew their promise of priestly ministry.  This is a unique Mass in the Church's liturgical calendar and is a great way to prepare for Holy Week.  Please join us for the Chrism Mass.

Diocese of Reno Catholic Services Appeal 2023

As believers in Christ, we are inspired to follow His example to love one another.  Therefore, it is so appropriate that the theme for our Catholic Services Appeal this year is :I am the Vine; you are the Branches" since Jesus promises us, "whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing." (John 15.5, NABRE).
As we seek to abide in Jesus, we ask for your help to grow the vine of the Church of Reno.  The goal for this year is $1,772,178. I know there are many concerns facing each of you but please consider supporting the ministries made possible through the generosity of the people of our diocese.
I am truly humbled to think that last year we collected over $1.8 million dollars! These funds supported our seminarians, deacons, and new vocations, ($137,640) especially significant consideering that we have such a shortage of priests.
Among other ministries and programs, the funds also supported Our Faith Formation Program ($240,890) along with our Catholic Schools,($68,900), which hopefully will bring us all great hope as we look toward the future of the Church in our diocese.  It also supported the hospital apostolate, prison mimistry, and the college campus outreach, ($130,550).
God gives us life through His Son, Jesus Christ.  In Christ, we partake in the abundant life of the Trinity, blessed by the gifts of our faith and His unconditional love.  I invite you to consider all God has given to you and to offer a gift of gratitude for His love so that we may continue to grow the ministries of the Diocese of Reno.
Only you know the blessings God has shared with you, but I humbly ask you to please consider a gift to our 2023 Catholic Services Appeal.

Knights of Columbus

Annual Diaper Drive - The Knights of Columbus is holding the annual Diaper Drive for the Fernley Crisis Pregnancy center between February 22 - April 09.  Donations of baby diapers, baby wipes or cash can be made in the receptable in the church foyer.

God may be calling you to the RCIA program.  The RCIA is a process to fully initiate adults into the Catholic faith.  Please come and explore how the Catholic faith may enhance your relationship with God.

Weekly meetings began on October 10th at 6 pm in the foyer.  With the exception of the first Mondays and certain holidays, we will meet Mondays at 6 pm through May 28, 2023 in the foyer.

Reno Eucharistic Revival

The source and summit of the Church's life is in the Eucharistic Sacrifice.  The Revival will help us renew the Church through a deepened understanding of the Eucharist, greater reverence for the Eucharist, increased participation in Mass, more frequent Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and a clearer call to Mission as people who have become the Body of Christ.

The Revival includes various initiatives on parish, diocesan and national levels to help us in this renewal.

I entrust this sacred work of revival to Mary, the Mother of Disciples, who always leads us to her Son and intercedes for us.
